ABOUT MUD AND LOTUS ARTS

Carie Krumme

As a young girl, I spent hours walking the sands of the Great Lakes, fascinated by the spirals and colors of nature, finding shells wrapped in seaweed and jewel-like beach glass caught in the sands. Inspired by what I had discovered,

I eventually started making art of things that I’d collected, sculpting pieces of jewelry in wax, wrapping them like tendrils or vines, and then casting them in sterling silver or 14k gold.Originally, I worked mostly with found objects (beach glass, shells), but then moved to semi- precious stones (fossils, turquoise, amber, opal, jasper, and others). As I continued to grow as an artist, I created other pieces that featured inspirational symbols, words, or quotes to help soulfully guide you and be a gentle reminder throughout your day.

Today I continue making art in Sebastopol, California where I live surrounded by redwoods and a pantheon of visiting animals, including foxes, deer, great horned owls, raccoons, and wild turkeys.

Inspired by nature, all jewelry is handmade by Carie Krumme.
